About RoxAnne Franklin

Growing up on a farm in rural eastern  Pennsylvania, RoxAnne Franklin developed an eye at an early age  for capturing the life and spirit of her natural environment. Her photography career began in 1999 when a move  took Franklin to New England.  It was there she had the opportunity to study photography at the New York Institute of Photography and eventually set up her own studio.

She enjoyed photographing many weddings, models, and families, but her true love was photographing her Labrador Retriever, Bear and her Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Charlie. She explored her surroundings through daily hikes, with her dogs and camera in tow. RoxAnne was fortunate to meet many wonderful people who shared the same interests, hiking and dog pals, which led to opportunities to photograph training classes for Sarah Wilson, well known Canine Trainer.

Before too long, and at the encouragement and inspiration  of Sarah Wilson, “Pix of the Litter”  was born.  Canine photography and candid human/canine portraiture became a large part of what RoxAnne photographed.

Inspired by the meaningful connection she had with her own two dogs, she discovered her love for capturing the true bond between people and people and their beloved pets, which enhanced her photography. As Dawn Henry wrote in her article about RoxAnne for the Marlboro Times, “RoxAnne Franklin is able to convey  the joy and security  that our canine companions feel when they are shown  true compassionate care. And that joy and compassion comes through in RoxAnne’s photos no matter what she is shooting, weddings, portraits, or events.”

Franklin loves photography because it allows her to capture a beautiful yet fleeting moment in a permanent form. With all her photography subjects, Franklin’s photos capture an innocence and openness  that warms up every room in which her work is displayed. To quote RoxAnne, “It’s not something I see when I’m photographing, it’s bigger than that, it’s something I feel.”

RoxAnne lives in PA with her two pals, Smokey and Bear. Her home is always filled with friends and dogs, It's a rare moment when things are quiet.

The Studio
“Pix of the Litter” and Photography by RoxAnne is headquartered in rural eastern Pennyslvania on an  86 acre farm.  I enjoy using natural light to photograph people and pets. An old barn lends great unique lighting to portraits and a  homemade horse drawn sled is the hit for holiday photos. Currently, a pond is in the works which will add to the unique approach I take to photograph engagement photos, seniors, pets, and portraits.

The Team
The team consists of myself and my Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Labrador mix, and Bear the Chocolate Lab. I've been known to use my guys when photographing children and adults.

Bring your dog to the farm and experience the fun of watching them be themselves in an open environment while I photograph precious moments they create.

Our Mission
I strive to reach a level with my photography that is hard for the everyday photographer to achieve.  My entire photography concept is capturing people, and animals in their true light which shows the bond, personality, and love in each and every photo.  I see with my heart and that’s the moment I push the shutter button.
