Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about my photography services.
  • Q: How long have you been photographing?
    A:
I've been photographing for well over 15 years. I started by shooting weddings back in the day of film before the invent of digital. I studied processing and gained experience at working with light. I also gained a tremendous amount of experience apprenticing with other Wedding photographers in NYC. I eventually opened my own studio in NY and photographed fashion models. So I have a wide range of experience.
  • Q: Is there anything you don't like to photograph?
    A:
I really don't have an eye for landscapes. I love taking my camera with me hiking, but if my dogs aren't in the picture, I cant seem to visualize the beauty thru the camera. So, I stay clear of landscape shooting for selling prints. I just do it for fun.

  • Q: Do you photograph other things besides K9 Events?
    A:
Yes!!! I shoot weddings, families, senior pictures, portraits, golfing events, Sports, motorcycle events, Babies, children, people events of all types, and Horses. I love photographing the connection between people too!

  • Q: Do you have a dog?
    A:
Oh yes! I am owned by two dogs. A chocolate Lab named Bear, and a Lab/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix named Smokey.

  • Q: Why don't you want customers to order directly from your Print Room gallery?
    A:
Because I need to have control over cropping. Only small file thumbnails are loaded unto the gallery, therefore the full file is in my computer's hard drive and that's what I use to crop and prepare the photo for customers. Also, I do give special prices for Clubs who ask me to shoot, which makes the prices on the gallery higher. It's better to order from me, that way you get the special pricing options.

  • Q: Why do you price everything in "3 fors" (3 for a certain amount)?
    A:
Because years ago, I noticed Brides purchasing quantities of three of all pictures, one for the Bride, another for the Mother, and another for the Mother-in-Law. I wanted to be fair and give them an opportunity to afford purchasing all their favorite prints. It just stuck with me and I use it for all event pricing.

  • Q: Do you offer packages?
    A:
Yes, when I do "Doggie Portrait Days" I will offer packages, however, I remember when my son was younger and he would bring package pricing home from school. I hated purchasing packages, as it seemed designed to enable the photographer to sell more and me to afford less. Ever since I started shooting professionally, I decided people are the main purpose of my photography and I will do what it takes to make the memories I capture affordable to everyone. Eliminating package pricing seemed to do that. It was a positive step.

  • Q: What products to you offer?
    A:
Coffee Table Books, Coffee Mugs, Blankets, Wall Hangings, Mouse Pads, License Plates, Key Tags, T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Tote Bags, Pillows, Garden Flags, Post Cards, Greeting Cards, Note Cards, Calendars, Collages, Talking Photos, Memory Mates, Digital Oil Paintings, Digital Watercolors, Photo Restoration, and probably more things I just can't remember at this time!

  • Q: How long will it take to get my order sent to me?
    A:
Photos are ordered every Friday and Monday, therefore in most cases you will have your photo order within a week. Products take longer, and depending on the product it could be up to two weeks.

  • Q: Do you charge shipping and handling?
    A:
Yes, I need to charge this because I take special care in packaging all items to avoid breaking and bending. A flat fee of $2.50 is charged on all size photos, and the postal service rate is charged on all products.

  • Q: Can I get a CD of my images?
    A:
Yes, I price them according to the number of images requested.

  • Q: Can I use your photo on my website?
    A:
Yes you bet, with one catch... you must put my link to my website on your link page!!! (just kidding, but it would be nice if you did). If you are using my photo on your website, all I ask is that you tell me so I can put my logo on the photo.

  • Q: Have you ever photographed unusual animals?
    A:
Oh yes! Once I did a shoot with 3 goats wearing bright red sweaters and posing with the owners young son. It was such fun!

  • Q: What are Doggie Portrait Days and how do they work?
A: A group of people, or an organization gets together and decides on a date, place, and sitting fee. They contact me, we schedule it, and the group collects the sitting fee in the name of the charity they want or their organization. The donation goes to that cause, I shoot the pictures and people can purchase the prints. We have had many many successful portrait day events. These events are not limited to dogs only. Families, Kids, Babies, dogs, Families with Dogs, People with Dogs, all are welcome for a portrait. I always take my horse drawn sled with me and will do Xmas photos even in July!!! We just pretend it's Xmas. They make great Xmas card shots!

  • Q: Do you do photo shoots at your farm?
    A:
Yes!!! We have 86 acres of open space. I offer dog owners the opportunity to come to my farm and allow their dog/dogs to roam free and just be a dog! While they are doing that, i photograph precious candid moments. The photographs are cherished by the owners, as they show the true personality of each and every dog. It's very stress free for the animal as well, as there are no studio lights, no confined space they are unfamiliar with, and no one making them sit, stay, or down. What could be better for your beloved fur baby?!! The sessions usually last no less than one hour and no more than two hours. For an enjoyable day, contact me to book a "Session on the Farm." This summer, the addition of a very large pond will make the photo sessions so much more interesting!
